FAQs
Straight answers to the questions employers usually ask first.
Do you represent employees as well as employers?
No. I act for employers only now.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. Email me the details of your case and I’ll arrange a free half-hour consultation to talk through what I could do for you and what the fees would be.
How much will this cost?
I can’t quote a fee without knowing the details of your case first — the cost depends on the complexity of the issues, how many claims are involved, the likely length of any hearing, and what stage things are at when you come to me. Email me what’s happened and I’ll arrange a free half-hour consultation, after which I’ll agree a fixed fee for the work you need — that might be the whole case, or a defined piece of work such as ACAS conciliation, hearing preparation, representation at a hearing, or settlement negotiation.
What happens at ACAS conciliation?
Before most tribunal claims can be lodged, ACAS has to be given the chance to help the parties settle the dispute. I would represent you through that process, aiming to resolve things without a claim being issued at all where that’s realistic.
How long does a tribunal claim take?
This varies significantly depending on the tribunal’s caseload and the complexity of the claim — it can be several months to a year or two from a claim being issued to a hearing. I’ll give you a realistic view of timescales once I’ve seen your case.
Do I need help if my business already has HR support?
HR support and tribunal representation are different skills. If a claim is heading to a hearing, or ACAS conciliation is underway, it’s worth having someone who does this specifically.
Where do you cover?
England, Scotland and Wales.
