Before an employee can make an application to the Employment Tribunal they are required to ask ACAS for ‘Early Conciliation’. It is ACAS’s job to see if they can help to resolve the dispute between you and your employee. ACAS act as a mediator and have the power to make a settlement legally binding. It is important to recognise that ACAS do not provide you or the other side with advice.
